Overview

Sumo Star is our version of a Japanese “Izakaya.” Izakayas are chef-driven restaurants in Japan, or as they are referred to as Japanese “Pubs”, that offer constantly evolving options for food based on market availability and chef’s inspiration, all while having a personality and feel all to its own. These Izakayas are a unique and vital cornerstone of Japanese food culture, are uninhibited and welcoming.

Owner

Adam Gendreau

Adam is a Boston based chef with 10 years of experience, cooking food ranging from Asian-inspired street food, to Michelin 3 starred French and Modernist cuisine. Most recently, he owned and operated the Staff Meal Food Truck, in Boston MA. Cooking and selling Asian-inspired street food, Staff Meal was met with critical acclaim and won several awards over the years.

Brian Lesser

Brian is the owner, creator and operating General Partner of Storyville, Minibar, the former Saint and Domani Bar and Trattoria, located in the newly designed and renovated Copley Square Hotel in Boston’s Back Bay. Brian is also the owner and operating General partner of Sweet Cheeks barbeque restaurant located in Boston’s Fenway Neighborhood.
