70% of the worlds antibiotics are derived from soil bacteria. However, 90% of the genes encoding billions of dollars of new drugs, are locked within the microbes DNA, and not expressed in the lab. We use the chemical language of life to talk soil bacteria into producing novel bio-active molecules standard culture techniques cannot access. Our focus is on producing novel chemical leads that target gram negative bacteria.
