Overview

Emerging from MIT, Adherean Inc is a health services company centered on incentivizing patients to stay on track with their health. Adherean's work is enabled by its proprietary Healthcheck care management platform, which allows us to remotely collect direct clinical data on a wide array of patient health markers and medication levels, and can be used to reward patients for staying on track with their regimens.

Co-Founder

Josiah Seale

Josiah Seale hails from Venezuela, with roots in a primary care / international development context. He has a professional background in early stage biotech firms and economic consulting for the healthcare/pharma sector. Josiah holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan Schol of Management with a focus in entrepreneurship & innovation, as well as undergraduate and master's degrees from MIT.

Co-Founder, Chief Economist

Angela Kilby

Angela Kilby, of Houston TX, is a doctoral candidate in economics at MIT, where she is a National Science Foundation Fellow in the use of behavioral incentives to drive healthy behavior. Prior to MIT, Ms. Kilby worked as an economist for the MIT Jameel Poverty Action Lab, where she investigated the use of incentives in global health. In addition to her doctoral work, Ms. Kilby holds two other degrees from MIT and was a Luce Scholar in Indonesia.

Chief Scientific Officer

Brian Belmont, PhD

As Adherean's CSO, Brian Belmont (of Allentown, Pennsylvania) has taken charge of opening the company's BSL2 facility and directing the biochemical work that allows Adherean to capture relevant clinical data. Brian's background is in functionalized assays and pharmaceutical development. He holds a PhD from MIT in Biological Engineering and an undergraduate degree from Stanford, where he served on the university's prize-winning solar car team.

Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Amol Navathe, MD, PhD

Dr. Amol Navathe joins Adherean from the Obama administration, where he managed the $1.1 billion dollar comparative effectiveness portfolio at the Department of Health and Human Services. Hailing from Atlanta, GA, Dr. Navathe holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Health Economics from the Wharton School. He originally consulted for healthcare clients with McKinsey & Co, after receiving an engineering degree from Stanford.
