Week 1 Monday, October 1

Business of Software Conference 2018: This is not your mother’s software conference. Business Leaders Network is bringing together a lengthy list of curated speakers, guests, and industry experts at a three-day event for business owners interested in scaling up their game. The conference is focused on growth and the software-related attributes that help a company thrive. What’s more? Event coordinators promise it will be fun. Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit: The Under 30 Summit is an annual event for young leaders, entrepreneurs, and visionaries to collaborate and connect. Attendees will have the opportunity to attend panels, networking events, workshops and more. This event begins on September 30th and ends October 3rd. Tuesday, October 2

Pepperlane Conference for Entrepreneurial Mothers: Pepperlane, a Boston-based company that aims to help mothers with the tools and the training needed to ‘build a successful micro-business,’ is hosting a conference for mothers who want to run their own create their own startups. Attendees will have the opportunity to network, listen to keynote speakers, and learn new strategies. This conference is all day on Tuesday, October 2nd, at Vistaprint in Waltham.

Wednesday, October 3

Bullhorn Networking Mixer: Boston-based software company Bullhorn is hosting a networking night for interested individuals to learn about careers in sales at Bullhorn. Attendees will have the opportunity visit company headquarters and meet Bullhorn’s sales leaders to discuss their sales experience, career progression, and learn about the company. Automation Seminar for Small Businesses: Join bookkeeping and payroll veterans from Botkkeeper and PayPros, Inc. for a seminar on business practices systems and automation. Business Ethics Workshop: Business owners are invited to attend a forum on business ethics and long-term business organization. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn how to implement an ethical program that will foster a successful company culture and increase profitability. The objectives of the workshop are to define and understand ethics, create strategies to implement ethics at work, and recognize social and business responsibility. Saturday, October 6

Tech Planter Demo Day: Join representatives from international seed acceleration program Tech Planter to watch deep tech startups in hardware, robotics, electronics, digital manufacturing, biotech, healthcare and more pitch their businesses. The event is ideal for students looking for internships, investors looking to source new deals, and anyone interested in technology and innovation. October TechFest: October only comes around once a year. And October TechFest? Same story. Organized by scientific service provider Science Exchange, this festival the perfect opportunity for local scientists in pharma, biotech, and academia to talk shop. Lightning talks, guest speakers, and Q&As about emerging technology will also be on tap. This event is on Wednesday, October 10, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Venture Cafe in Cambridge. Networking Event: Natural Awakenings Magazine and health network SoulBeing is hosting a joint networking event for business people in the wellness community. Attendees will have the opportunity to network and view a presentation on how practitioners can help patients handle chronic pain, inflammation, and insomnia. This event is from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 11, at the Newton Chiropractic and Wellness Center.

Friday, October 12

SciBite Semantic Tech Hackathon: Join data scientists, software developers, software engineers, front end developers and coders to work with SciBite’s Termite entity extraction tool and some in-development entity identification and enrichment tools. Together, attendees will hack together solutions in ontology learning, document classification and semantic visualization. The event is on Friday, October 12, at Pfizer in Kendall Square.
