As a designer by training and with a background in healthcare innovation, Chris Tolles was in search of a co-founding role at a startup that focused on the intersection of health challenges and consumer products. He met Dr. Emilia Javorsky, a dermatology researcher, who came across a body of evidence around polypodium leucotomos, a fern extract backed by 30+ years of sun protection science. With their shared passion for consumer products, science commercialization, and a shared desire to start a company, they founded Sundots.
