Here's where Boston ranks among top homes for tech startups

San Francisco is no longer the top tech city worldwide, according to a new study by real estate firm Savills. This year, city was stripped of its title for the first time by New York City.

The Savills Tech Cities index measures 30 global cities on 100 metrics related to the city's business environment, cost of doing business, tech infrastructure, venture capital availability, talent pool, real estate prices and quality of mobility. 

Behind San Francisco, London ranks third, followed by Amsterdam, Boston and Singapore.

The report works to "establish which cities are the most successful homes for tech and start-up companies." San Francisco has topped the list for the past three years, yet this year, the Big Apple's deep talent pool tipped the scales.

"It is no coincidence that Amazon recently selected New York’s Long Island City as a location for its second headquarters, citing the ability to attract world-class talent as a key determinator," the report says.
