Harvard Business School students launch BillCrew to help patients tackle large (and erroneous) medical bills

April 18, 2016

Every year, Americans overspend an estimated $100 billion on medical bills containing errors*. This is approximately the GDP of Puerto Rico, fattening the pockets of the healthcare system completely in error.

To tackle this problem, five Harvard Business School students have launched a new business named BillCrew, a platform that connects patients who have large medical bills to experts that can help reduce their medical charges. These experts, known as medical billing advocates, are professionals with decades of experience in medical billing and are extremely familiar with the healthcare system's processes and flaws. Medical billing advocates can quickly assess a patient's situation, analyze his/her bill, identify errors and overcharges, and negotiate the bill on the patient's behalf. The service is completely risk-free for patients.
