After a summer chock full of mergers and acquisitions, we seem to be winding down as we head into autumn. We counted up just seven deals in Greater Boston in September.
Still, some were pretty significant: Vertex Pharmaceuticals, for example, is acquiring Semma Therapeutics for $950 million to advance its diabetes treatment portfolio. Just north of Boston, Shopify is acquiring the robotics company 6 River Systems—meaning the commerce platform not only gets 6 River Systems’ robots, but also the scientists who built the Kiva robots widely used in Amazon warehouses.
