This September, Changemakers is talking about challenges: the ones we face on our career paths and the ways we choose to challenge ourselves.

In Boston, we’ll be speaking with Dr. Joan Reede, the Dean for Diversity and Community Partnership at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Reede is no stranger to challenges, having been discouraged in her youth from applying to Brown University. Thankfully she chose to ignore the advice of her school counselor and applied anyway – and was accepted. This decision started her down the path to her M.D. and her current position as one of the few African American women to hold a deanship at a medical school in the United States.
